Mariel Nilo has been passionate about technology for as long as she can remember. In highschool she pursued specialized education in informatics and computation followed by a bachelor's degree in design, animation, and web development.
Over the last 15 years, Mariel built her career across several major technology companies. At IBM she worked as a Tester and Tech Team Lead on the Standalone Solution Configurator Tool (SSCT) that served as the main configurator for x86 servers (widely known as the backbone of many enterprise applications and cloud environments). As a Test Project Manager at Lenovo, Mariel directly contributed to the xconfig application, a high level solution to configure data centers sold collaboratively by IBM and Lenovo. While a Senior R&D Software Manager at Continental, her instrument cluster software work was incorporated into vehicles for Ford, BMW, and Toyota. Most recently as a Senior Technology Program Manager leading Internal Products Strategy at global technology services company Wizeline, she oversaw core solutions and applications used to manage all operations and services for the company’s web presence.
As Mariel is quick to point out, being a neurodivergent professional with ADHD brings a distinctive approach to problem-solving that enables her to see connections others might miss. She excels at approaching challenges from multiple angles simultaneously, often developing integrated solutions that address various problems at once. This unique perspective, combined with her strong empathy, allows her to translate complex technical concepts into pragmatic, digestible information for diverse audiences.
