Nuno Costa-Borges is a globally recognized embryologist with over 18 years of experience in both research and clinical practice in IVF. As a PhD fellow with the Portuguese National Funding Agency for Science (FCT), he developed advanced strategies to enhance cloning efficiency, achieving Spain's first successful mouse cloning in 2009. 

After earning his PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2011, he joined IVI Barcelona as a clinical embryologist. In 2013, he co-founded Embryotools, an assisted reproductive technology consultancy offering quality control tests, training, and advisory services to the global IVF community. As scientific director, Costa-Borges has led the development of innovative IVF techniques, including the flicking method for blastocyst biopsy and the maternal spindle transfer technique, which prevents mitochondrial disease transmission and addresses infertility related to poor oocyte quality. 

Costa-Borges has published over 60 peer-reviewed papers with more than 350 scientific citations and is a sought-after speaker at international conferences. His accolades include the American Society of Reproductive Medicine's Paper Prize in 2017 and the IVI Foundation Award in 2019.
