Automated Identification of Blastocyst Regions at Different Development Stages

Flores‐Saife Farias et al, 2023

This study presents the first fully automatic method for identifying the important features of 5-day old human embryos (blastocysts) developing in a laboratory. Microscope images of blastocysts were used to successfully teach a computer program how to recognize each part, like the ICM or mass of cells that will form the baby. This approach may help embryologists choose the best embryo to transfer and could improve understanding of early development.
