Artificial Intelligence In Human Reproduction

Mendizabal-Ruiz et al, 2024

This paper presents an overview of the current and potential applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation in human reproduction and the need for robust ethical frameworks for clinical application of these new technologies.

While AI aims to address the problem of subjective decision making in assisted reproduction (for example embryo selection for transfer), automation is hoped to facilitate standardization of techniques and procedures and ultimately better outcomes for patients.

The authors argue in favor of establishing comprehensive ethical and regulatory frameworks for AI that would safeguard human rights and dignity, prioritizing transparency, privacy, fairness, and informed consent.
